Veronika Svobodová
An audiovisual artist, musician and set designer, her work combines the arts of installation and performance with theatre scenography, blending time, space and situation. Her sonic performances focus not just on sound itself but equally its formation, drawing spectators into micro-stories where the main cast consists of DIY mechanical apparatuses straddling the gap between musical instruments and art objects. She works with sand, wooden fragments or slabs of slate made resonate through movement, adding contact microphones and field recordings to form subtle aural experiences.
Veronika Svobodová studied at DAMU Prague, where she currently teaches at the Alternative and Puppet Theatre Department. Her sonic composition Ror-bu earned the Palma Ars Acustica prize in 2020.
